Dance Competitions

My girls are on competition teams for dance. They work very hard and we have dance 4 out of 7 days a week with Saturday being mostly consumed by team dance classes.

On March 26th they competed in the Dance America competition at a local high school. I didn't stick around for the awards because 9 hours was enough for me. I was very tired to start with and just getting through the competition was tough. Sassy did say they did pretty well and were even surprised by some of the high rankings they got.

I apologize for the poor quality of pictures. I didn't set the right setting for some and others, well, we are seriously outdated in camera technology and with the way billing isn't done monthly at work it makes it hard to afford the extra luxuries. C'est le vie. The lighting at this particular event wasn't the best either. It either washed out the girls or makes the video look yellowish.

Yesterday they competed at a Gotta Move dance Competition. It was in the evening. I was so excited that I had the majority of a Saturday to get stuff done. However, I noticed that all the teams had less energy than usual. We didn't have to even be there until 5:30 pm. So nice for me to get stuff done, not so great for dancers who didn't seem to have much energy left at the end of the day.

They still did pretty well, placing in most of the dances. Usually in 1st or 2nd place.

Here are some better pictures from last night. Turns out that the video camera I have that I can't ever get any video off of because of the way it records them, is really great at taking still photos,. Better than my still photo camera. Go figure.

For those wanting to know the difference between Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop you will have to ask a current dancer. It's been too long since I performed and I no longer remember. I watch because I love to. It's not important to me what the style is.

If I can figure out some video stuff I'll come back and post it.

Next Competition is April 30 and then May 6 & 7. A performance after that on  May 24 and we get a 2 week break before summer dancing begins!

Looks like it takes a lot of dedication being a dance family!

I never took dance and when I was younger would have been too shy to, probably. But looking back, I wish that I had. I admire dancers, they have to be very dedicated to be good at what they do and I think the art is so beautiful. :)

Sorry about the last comment. Signed in under wrong account.

I'm sure glad they enjoy the dancing. It definitely takes commitment.
