Return of the Mean Mom

I came home from work Thursday, October 16th and found children all over my home. Eating, lunging, watching movies that I did not give permission to watch. With the tasks that I demanded requested be completed before my return still not done.

Fall Break from school is not to be confused with break from daily life tasks at home. However, it was.

Monkey Wrench greeted me at the door. I asked him if he had hung the drywall downstairs that his dad had asked him to hang for the past week. He said no. I requested to know what he had been doing for the last 5 hours.
1. Fixed an oil leak for his friend. At least that is what he admitted to.

So I enter the house. Kitchen is filthy. Kids eating food. Kids I did not give birth to or adopt legally. I put them all to work.

Mini Me gave me a great deal of 13 year old attitude and I reminded her that I am the keeper of all that is good and wonderful in her life and I can take it all away. She decided to make an attempt that was pitiful at best far below her normal standard. I beckoned her back and threatened her with in an inch of her life strongly admonished her to do her best and complete her task.

Cool mom status flew right out the door and I think frightened one young man. He did help hang drywall and then left as soon as he felt it was safe he was sure I wasn't looking.

Tree Monkey escaped the wrath of mean mom. She had been helping me at work and was working side by side to clean the house earlier that morning. She got to go play.

I'm not unreasonable. I will reward hard work - or at least the completion of simple tasks. The lazy rule breaking teens may not agree.

I wonder if any of them will return for the Friday night snack feast at the kitchen table? We'll have to wait and see.

(Don't forget to check out the posts below that you may have missed. I've been on a posting roll.)
