Still Sane

We had the two Korean boys here for three days and two nights. I think they decided that they like there current placement better. We are a structured foster placement, which means that we have rules that include asking for permission for everything. I'm also very structured and the kids have a schedule to follow with their chores and homework. Not fun for them.

They didn't complain, but they were very excited when they got picked up to return to their home. They were very polite and sweet. Quiet. The youngest one gets up at 6 AM on his own EVERY morning. He was great to read until everyone else got up on Saturday morning.

Our new 7 year old has found me to be a bit of an air head. My baby is 11 and will be 12 in September. I haven't had to dish up food for a young child for years. He is patient with me. He is so adorable, cute, funny, and annoying at the same time. He has some behaviors that are needing to be extinguished and we are working on that. He has some AD/HD behaviors that are really related to his trauma, but look like attention deficit. He had been over medicated so I have cut his medication in half. He is a lot more active in the evening as the meds wear off. I like it better than a zombie kid. He is also stunted in growth due to early life neglect and I don't want the medications to inhibit his appetite any more than it does. I want him to catch up.

My hubs planted my gerbera daisies and some of my bulbs. He rocks. He had all the kids out helping him and they got sunburned. They had a good time and were so excited to tell me what they had done and what they had planted where.

Sweet kiddos I have!!! Awesome hubs I am married to!!!

My sanity saver was going to a baby shower for a grad school colleague that I still see often. She is so cute and we had a lot of fun showering her with baby gifts. I also took Jaguar and Lazy Lion shopping for clothes Saturday evening. It was fun to see them get some new clothes. They are throwing out the clothes that were the "old me" clothes and moving on to a healthier style and habits. I love that this is their choice and that they are excited to make these changes. It makes it more fun and meaningful.

Sassy's party with 24 kids was successful, I guess. Some of the boys needed manners. The rest were great. We were cleaning up food and garbage for half of Saturday as we did yard work. I had my BFF Amy come over to help me stay sane. THAT many 13 year olds was more than this old gal can handle. Eeeee gads!!!!

With all that I am still sane and ready for a new week to begin.

I think you are insane for having that many 13 year olds for Sassy's party. Way nicer mom than I. And your sweet red head is so adorable. It will be fun to get to know him. How long do you get to have him? Good luck with the new week!

Hey, I hate to bug but I left something out of this week's ML list. I need a "someone's name" from you and the other two. Thanks :)

How in the world did you handle THAT MANY teenagers????

I just love reading about what you do with all the kids--you are incredible.

Can't wait to see picks of your gerbera daisies.
