Oh just been busy being a Nana

We celebrated the arrival of our newest granddaughter on December 28th. So our L'il Lady Bug is now a  Big Sister.

I'm taking lots of pictures. I am just reluctant to share them on the internet much.

But here is one or two....just to prove how cute my granddaughters are.

First meeting of the sisters

"Not more pictures, Nana!"

Welcome home mommy and sister

And I tried to upload a video, but I kept getting an error.

I am seriously considering going private. Long story, but involves the safety of my family.

If you would like to, or even are still, keep reading please send me an email or comment with your email address and I'll send you an invite.

Can you have a post with A LOT of randomness?

Maybe if I include lots of pics and a few videos you'll bear with me. It's been awhile.

A grumping to begin with:

My daughter has a friend who struggles to make good choices. Every time she (my daughter) takes a chance and invites this "friend" over she gets burned. Then the girl goes and posts negative things on facebook. The girl says that my daughter is two faced. Really? Because you lie to her and me about how you are getting home and after years of your lies I text your mom to let her know what you are saying now (the plan was different and hour earlier) because I DON'T TRUST YOU  and that makes Sassy the two-faced, bad friend. She continues to care about you, give you second chances, and invite you over, knowing that you will probably use her, lie to her, and get mad at her for your lies and your consequences. Ugh! Her parents are such nice people. I love her mom. I hate the way she treats her mom and my daughter. Sassy decided she has had enough. She pulled the welcome mat in. She needed to in order to protect herself.

I am so glad she decided that your hateful words were not anything she needed to read and unfriended you on facebook. she doesn't need "friends" that hate and despitefully use her for having morals and values. (Not that this young lady will ever read this, but you get why I addressed that to her, right?)

Some disturbing news items:

If THIS is inappropriate dress what do they define the shorter skirts as? I am pretty impressed by this lovely outfit. I question the reason or purpose behind the administrator who define this as inappropriate. My daughter's middle school had a dress code. It wasn't enforced. They kept making is stricter and stricter, but the girls wearing the tight bosoms showing shirts or the short-short skirts weren't the ones being asked to change or getting reprimanded for violating the dress code. It was the girls who had on modest clothes, but not the right kind of collar, or their shorts were an inch too short. We had parents on the "patrol" who volunteered to send the kids to the office. they quit after a short time, because of the discrepancy. The new principle simply disregarded the collared shirt requirement, but did enforce the decency part of the dress code. Thankfully, some sane thought with the new blood. I supported the dress code as it helped reduce gang activity, but when it isn't enforced as written is become useless.

Speaking of useless laws: Does anyone else think the money fined here would be better served in the programs for the students? Maybe I'm the crazy one. I have some serious concerns about our law makers. If I wanted junk food in high school NO ONE would have stopped me. They kept the vending machines running to avoid students leaving school and risking accident or tardies. I also think that the federal government has NO BUSINESS in our schools. They botch things. Exhibit 1-  No Child Left Untested  Behind.

Some better thoughts:
Mr and Mrs Monkey Wrench and L'il Miss Lady Bug went to California for Easter. We planned to see my paternal uncle, but he was being placed on hospice the day we arrived and we only had the one night. It was a quick trip.  I got to give my aunt a squeeze before we left, but they needed to calm him down. Too many changes in too short of time had him pretty agitated. We went to an Easter Egg hunt at Jackson Park in Riverside and then headed back to Las Vegas where we played an then spent the night with some friends. Three nights on the road and all three at a different location.
Momma and L'il Miss Lady bug carrying the basket.

Daddy and L'il Miss Lady bug waiting for the hunt to begin.

Papa holding her up high to check out the scene.

Sitting in Auntie Tree Monkey's lap waiting for the start, checking out the eggs on the grass.

Screaming because "I do not like the grass on my knees!"

"I got one!"

The TWO eggs she picked up!

Us with the red M&M. Who doesn't have one of those pictures?

Race car shot because daddy loves racing and fast cars.

See. Everyone has a picture with the red M&M.

L'il miss lady bug turned ONE!!!! We didn't make it to the birthday party :( Sassy and Tree Monkey have dance competitions every April thru May. On the day of her party they had a dance competition that went until 5 PM. Not only were hubby and I there to support that, but Sassy made JV Cheer and it was the BIG fundraiser for the cheer leaders, so parents and cheerleaders were required to work teh dance competition. We has Sassy work it Friday all afternoon and night so she could dance on Saturday and Hubby and I worked the Saturday afternoon shift. We didn't know about the party when we signed up. Likely it wasn't planned that far ahead, but whatever. We also tried to let the party planners know that we couldn't attend until after 5:30 PM. No changes were made to accommodate our previous obligatory commitment*. Sad we couldn't be there. We did get to hear the announcement that L'il miss lady bug will be a big sister about January, AND we got to giver her her presents that we got her.  She is good at pushing her baby in the stroller, but doesn't really get the baby bottle thing yet. In time.
At the Zoo on her birthday with her daddy

Eating her birthday cake a day later at her party.
Here is her stroller and baby....

She has her own swimming pool, swim diapers, and swim suit and Nana and Papa's home. She is almost running everywhere. She says "baby," "puppy," "dadda," "momma," "no," "uh oh,"  and "owie." Sometimes we hear "nana' and "papa," but they are not regular yet. She is a joy to be around and brightens any stressful day.
Who needs water? Auntie? What are you doing around there?

Auntie was blowing up the pool.

We got her a princess chair to sit on at our home. 'Cause that's what grandparents do....

We are done with competition dance. It has been great. It has been taxing. It has been fun. It is time to move on. Both girls made a dance team at the high school and one made cheer as well, so we will be busy still. But different busy and new busy. Kinda looking forward to it.

I hope to get more regular at blogging this summer. It may be more of just my rants on certain topics than about the family, but it is my blog, right?

*Our presence isn't considered crucial at these things.

Whew! A busy December

We had a baby shower for my cousin who was pregnant with her first girl. She has since had the little angel.

We had a bridal shower for my new sister-in-law.

My lovely sis-in-law, McKell

We had a wedding and that great shebang stuff that comes with it.

Coming out of the temple right after the sealing.

The things to sign on at the reception...Those are real vinyls.

Coming into the reception hall.

My oldest, sassy, Tree Monkey, and L'il Lady Bug with their new aunt and beloved uncle.

We had a party for New Year's Eve with the girls and their friends. Lots of food and lots of fun. Now we are back to schedules and routine.

Oh, oh oh....one more thing. We got a car for Sassy to drive as we need her to drive her sister and herself to dance due to the fact we are at work. It's a pretty exciting thing. Cute little car that got 29.44 mpg on its last tank of gas. Maybe I should trade her cars?

Happy New Years Peeps!!!!

Well......Hello again!

So I changed jobs. Yeah and kept a few clients from the old one AND do a few clients in private practice. So I pretty much work 6 days a week. But when I get home I spend time holding my granddaughter, go to the gym with my daughters, have engaged in some retail therapy (to motivate me to continue attending the gym regularly) and just take time to breathe. I am hardly ever on the computer for fun anymore. I am busy, but it is great!

The girls had their dance recital and rocked it. Sassy did a lot of work and presented a teacher who is leaving to follow her husband to grad school (silly girl, what is she thinking leaving us?) with some sweats and a t-shirt that matched the two teams that she worked with to show how much she loves her. The other team girls were great to pay their part so that this could all be done. We will really miss her great skill and choreography. Sassy is affectionately known as "the instigator" at the studio and at home. She can be found working on all kinds of things to make others feel loved or appreciated.

Currently I am sitting and watching them at a dance workshop 70 miles north of our home. We got up early on a Saturday to drive up so they can dance all day with choreographers from High School Musical and other great performances. All in the name of self improvement for the dancer.

Yo, me holding the  l'il lady bug, aka NanaK's angel

That's a little slice of Heaven right there folks.

Over and out for now!

Happy Birthday to Little Miss Lady Bug

***Edited to add***
7 lbs 3 oz and 19.5 inches long. How did I not remember to post this before? Too excited to think I guess.

Nana K is now a reality. My first granddaughter/child arrived at 1:04 AM on May 4th. 3 days before my birthday. That's a pretty good gift in my book!

Right after birth being checked out.

"I do not like being bothered," she screamed.

Little Miss Lady Bug

My first born with his first born. LOVE!

A few hours later in the day. Finally sleeping.
She was very alert and had her eyes open. She also ate within 30 minutes of her birth. Kind of cool and surreal. You actually get to leave the hospital without a baby and not feel like part of you is missing. It is still hard to leave. Just looking at her is Heaven.

This Is A Neglected Blog

As it turns out, when I sit down to the computer my brain goes blank. When I am driving I write witty blogs about the drivers and how I want to change the process for getting a driver's license and take away the licenses of those texters driving 10 miles below the speed limit, and slowing down my travel. Then I get home and can't remember any of it by the time I get to the computer. So many distractions I guess.

The girls are gearing up for the upcoming dance competitions. I am looking forward to the one during Spring Break and am planning on maximizing the family time by scheduling a short vacay during that time as well.

Monkey Wrench has a full-time job with benefits now. He has been working odd jobs while he patiently waited for a job offer that will help him support his wife and growing baby.

I have purchased a portable play pen in absolutely fabulous condition for just $40. This is for Nana's home. I also have a high chair, even though she won't be using it for about a 9 more months. Little Lady Bug will be pampered at this Nana's home. "My motto is Nana's my name and Spoilings my game!"

Sassy is working hard in school and is anxiously awaiting the time that the school will permit her to be concurrently enrolled in college and high school. They say it can't happen until she's a junior or senior. That may kill her to wait that long. She is ready to move on to her career education. Guess we'll see what she is able to get them to allow her to do.

Tree Monkey is holding her own in Jr High. First semester down and she has a fabulous GPA and some good times to remember. I can't wait to NOT be the PTA President. I have never wanted that job and have wished that I had said "NO" to the call.

I am a fully licensed clinical social worker. My current task is to get on insurance panels and that is a tough task to accomplish. They, the insurance companies, make it so vague and difficult to do. Some panels have been closed for 20 years.

I have registered my own business with the state and have set up all the articles of incorporation, bank account, and printed business cards. Now to get on the panels and set up office. I am still working out of my current company (and for the past 2 years) as a private contractor. As long as I can keep busy I'm good to stay there. They just pay my company and I pay me.

I set up a website for my husbands company. I am not linking to it here for privacy reasons. He does his own advertising by word of mouth and those really interested in seeing can email me for the url.

Our last foster son moved out on January 5th. It has been a nice adjustment. I come home from work and get to spend quality time running my daughters around, working on my home office stuff, visiting my mom, or just sitting and relaxing. It is SUCH A NICE CHANGE!!!

I know that we needed to do foster care. I also know that we don't need to anymore. I don't think I will go back to it. I'll just follow any spiritual prompting in that regard. Right now we don't need to.

It's been a busy January and with taxes coming up it's going to get busier for a couple of months.

Sassy may be hosting some posts here. I asked her to, so we'll see if she can think of stuff better than I can.

I'll leave you with some wedding pictures that I finally got. . . (photographer is pregnant and her little guy has a heart problem, and they traveled for the holidays a lot, so getting pics took longer than expected.)
The pics are the digital scrapbook pages I made.

And this one of our little granddaughter growing so big inside her momma!
