Easter Prep

I have the meat marinating, the vegetable ready to steam tomorrow, assignments made for the rest of the family, the girls dresses purchased, the boys ties ready to wrap, and the candy in the eggs for the Easter Egg Hunt, and I even got time to do this -----------

Make a center piece for our table

and arrange a vase of roses for the mantle.
I must say I am looking forward to the elimination of the Easter baskets and candy. I know it sounds grumpy. I just want Easter to be about Christ and the Resurrection without all the bunny, and candy added on.

Christ's investment in my life is the greatest gift I have ever received. I want to talk about it for the week or month leading up to it, not interwoven with the Easter bunny. I know it's a sacrifice we do for our children. As I look back now I think I would like to have foregone the whole Easter bunny thing and always made this very special day focused on it's true purpose; The sacrifice that our Heavenly Father made by allowing out older brother Christ to do for us what we could not do for ourselves. The gift of eternal life and the opportunity to be forgiven for my sins and shortcomings. The peace of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in my life. Knowing that there is a greater purpose and meaning to life than the world would have me believe. To know that I can still see those whom I love dearly and who have passed from this life. To be able to spend eternal life with my husband and children.

Easter is one of my favorite holidays. It is when many of us take time to reflect on our true purpose in life.
