Any weekend that I can hear guidance from the Prophet is a good weekend to me.
This week is the of
General Conference. The weekend where I am reminded all those things that I am working on and given some new insight as to how I can be successful.I loved when Joseph B. Wirthlin stated that "The question is Not whether we will fall, but how we will get up." One of the things that frustrates me most is the myth that members of the
LDS Church are perfect. It is true that we work to do our best. However, perfection will never happen in this life. It is only by completing our learning here combined with the atonement and mercy of our Savior that we gain perfection. Here we do our best. We make mistakes and we repent and try again. We do get some things right and others are a constant challenge for us. We are not perfect. That is the beauty of it all. We don't have to be. We just need to be striving to do our best and to do what the Lord has asked of us.
Richard G. Scott reminded us that we will be judged according to the desires of our hearts as well as our works. A phrase that brings me comfort as I do my best (most days- anyway) and want to do more.
I wouldn't be able to do such good works without all those around me. My parents, my siblings, my husband and kids, my neighbors, colleagues, and all my friends. Friends that I have met and those of you that I only know through blogging. Many of you have strengthened me just by sharing your lives. It is comforting to know that we are all working to build the kingdom in which we live. To raise our children right. To over come trials that have entered our life and to pick ourselves up and do everything we can after we fall or as we struggle.
I hope to follow the example of
Millie and post a little of what I get from each session.
