Sold

We sold our house after just a few weeks on the market. We had a real estate agent. He did quite a bit to help us as we looked for a home. He did not sell our home. We did.

I ask about an open house. 2 weeks after it went on the market we had an open house. Memorial Day weekend. Does anyone else think that this might not have been the best timing? He didn't want to change it. Sooooooo. I baked cookies that Saturday morning. Like about 7 dozen. No one showed up!!! Not one person I was slightly annoyed extremely pissed off.

So what does a Mad Monkey do? Take action. I took pictures. I went on KSL.com and listed our home. I listed it on Craig's list. Then out of pure desperation I did the most ingenious act ever- I emailed our family and friends and pretty much begged asked them to tell all they knew that our home was for sale.

We got many calls from KSL.com and we showed 2 people. Our agent had 2 showings from other agents. The key was one friend of mine, that is also a colleague that I staff cases with often, who told a family in her ward. They have lived in a single wide trailer and are looking for a bigger place. They have 3 kids living with them and 2 that come during the summer and on most weekends.

I'd like to say that I like them. Well I do like the wife. The husband is a bully and I didn't care for the tactics he tried to use. I would behave oppositionally to his ridiculous requests. He wanted to offer $30,000 less and then had the gall to ask for our brand new  $3,000 fridge. No was my response. He pretty much wanted us to give the house to him. I stood my ground and we got appraisal amount for the purchase amount.  He also kept telling the agent that if we didn't meet his demands then they would look else where. I thought the agent was going to croak when I said then tell him to look.

Calling the big bully's bluff felt good.

We then moved on to looking for the home for us. That is another post. Coming up soon.
