A few things that touched me from this morning's session of General Conference:
Pres. Monson-
Announcement of 5 new temples and admonition to pray for the opening of the areas of the world where we are not yet allowed.
L. Tom Perry-
We are not to let the stress and challenges of life get the best of us. We need to live simply.
In righteousness there is great simplicity.
Sister Allred-
Her and her sister ran home from school to read the Book of Mormon. Her testimony of missionary work was a powerful witness that lives are blessed by the introduction of the gospel and knowledge of God's love for us.
She encouraged us to participate in missionary work.
Neil L. Anderson-
We learn line-upon-line.
We need to commit to learn and read the Book of Mormon.
He reminded us that we don't know everything, but we know enough.
Faith is a choice. We must choose faith.
Marcus Aidukaititis-
Talked about his gratitude for his father's conversion and the cost he endured to join the Lord's church.
He compared not reading the Book of Mormon to not reading a letter from our parents. Those who judge it by others points of view are spoiled children who would not eat a meal tenderly cooked for them.
He invited all of us to read the Book of Mormon.
Dallin H. Oaks-
We live in perilous times. We have been given the sacrament ordinance to aid us.
Participation in the sacrament ordinance qualifies us to always have his spirit to be with us.
He encouraged us to develop individual reverence and prepare ourselves to participate in the sacred sacrament ordinance. We need to remember that we promise to serve him, obey him, and keep his spirit with us.
We need to concentrate on keeping our behavior from interfering with the worship of others and our ability to focus on the covenant that we are renewing.
Amusement, laughter, and lightmindedness have no place in sacrament meeting.
We are to dress in preparation to receive the sacrament. Those administering the sacrament are likewise to be in appropriate dress. The white shirt is representative of the white clothes we are baptized in and the white temple clothing.
The sacrament should be performed with dignity and he admonished, "Be ye clean that bear the vessels of the Lord."
Dieter F. Uchtdorf
His mom was not one to bemoan trials and hardships. She had faith and hope and was moved to action.
He encouraged us to have hope IN things as well as for things. Hope is like the beam of sunlight that pierces the darkness like the dawn.
This is just a very small summary of what I could write down. I couldn't write fast enough to get everything I wanted to. I look forward to reading your responses so that I can gain more of what I didn't get down.
If you are having a hard time getting your small children to sit still go here to find some activities.
I also have some bingo sheets. Email me to request I send them to you.
Email link is on the side bar.
