To start with I must comment on the beautiful children's choir. They were so amazing. Hearing them sing gave me chills and brought tears to my eyes.
Jay E Jensen was called to the presidency of the quorum of the 12. He and his wife are so great. His beautiful wife stepped in and helped me during a tough time in my late adolescence.
On to the talks. . .
Following the afternoon session I went to my mom's with my girls and we watched Emma. I recommend it. I was crying and so touched by the story. Joseph B. Wirthlin-
He is such a sweet man. I got caught up in his stories and forgot to write much down. The story of his daughter and the dating/babysitter fiasco was hilarious. Well, actually the part where he couldn' t meet her date- because he was in the kitchen still laughing hard was the best.
He did remind us that we all experience heartache and sorrow. How we react to adversity determines how happy we can be.
His mom's saying, "Come what may and love it" are words of wisdom.
I also found great joy in his laughing at getting lost when he travels. My husband, children, mom and youngest siblings can attest to the fact that when we travel I consider getting lost a sight seeing adventure. Sometimes Mr gets mad, but I just enjoy each moment. I find it funny- as I am directionally challenged.
Jeffrey R. Holland-
He talked about the angels among us. They are there. He also reminded us that miracles are occurring. It is by faith that angels come and administer to men.
He asked us to take heart and be filled with faith. To search diligently and pray always. He told us that the latter-days are not a time to fear, but a time to be diligent.
God never leaves us alone or unaided in the tasks he asks us to do.
Gérald Caussé-
Reminded us to be as a little child and to exercise faith to increase our gospel knowledge.
It really took a lot to concentrate on his speech. I think he is French and I have to listen closely, so I forgot to write down more.
Lawrence E Corbridge-
He was magnificent. He stated that either Christ exists or he doesn't. Christ is the way.
Only God can bless us, sustain us, protect us, give us knowledge, bring us back to the Father. We must keep his commandments.
Christ suffered for our wrongs; he paid for our education. We take upon his name and we are asked to always have his spirit to be with us.
Christ says to us, "Follow me." What manner of men [women] ought we be? Even as He is.
He told us, "Don't ever believe that you cannot be as Christ is." This is not a human endeavor. It is achievable by everyone. He will make us able to .
The Lord's way is NOT hard. Life is hard, not the gospel.
Follow the Lord and have his power or go another way. That is the choice.
Keep on going, don't quit. Jesus Christ is the way- any other way is madness.
He is the only way. Have the good sense to follow him.
D. Todd Christofferson-
Zion is a place and a people.
The Lord calls us to be beacons of righteousness that all may be able to look to us for the way.
Zion is Zion due to the character, attributes, and faithfulness of the people.
We need to become unified as a people. Together we need to care for the poor and the needy so none are poor among us.
Be free from contention. Forgive all and forgive easily. We need to learn to be content with what is sufficient for our needs and look after one another the best we can.
David A. Bednar-
3 principles to make prayer more meaningful:
#1. Counsel with the Lord in all our doings.
#2. Prayer becomes more meaningful as we express heartfelt gratitude.
#3. Pray for others with real intent and a sincere heart.
